This historic park has an array of attractions for visitors of all ages. Not only is it a great place to relax and eat food from the surrounding restaurants, but it also offers a vast array of educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities. Frontier Park has been a favorite among locals and those visiting the city since its opening in 1898. The park itself was named for one of the first settlers in the area, Colonel William D. Shannon, who is often referred to as the father of McKinney, Texas.
